Position: Transportation Supervisor

Shift: AM/PM/ SPLIT SHIFT

Job Summary

As the Transportation Supervisor, you will hold a pivotal role in managing and enhancing our school and NEMT transportation services. Your primary mission is to oversee the daily operations of our fleet, drivers, ensuring the safety, reliability, and timeliness of school and NEMT routes .

Essential Functions

1. Driver/ Supervision /Training:

- Operate passenger size vehicle that accommodates 2 –15 passengers, and assist with the

day-to-day transportation of adults and students as per assigned routes. (Provide back-up support as needed)
-Primary contact for all drivers and attendants

- Oversee a team of drivers, providing leadership, guidance, and support.

- Conduct driver training programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.

- Monitor driver performance and provide constructive feedback and performance evaluations.

2. Route Planning and Optimization:

- Develop and maintain efficient transportation routes and schedules for school and NEMT trips.

- Continuously optimize routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption while maximizing safety

and on-time performance.

- Adjust routes as needed to accommodate changes in student populations or traffic patterns.

3. Fleet Maintenance and Safety Compliance:

- Implement a rigorous maintenance schedule for fleet vehicles to ensure they are safe and in optimal

working condition.

- Ensure that all vehicles adhere to local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.

- Conduct regular safety inspections of vehicles and address maintenance and repair needs promptly.

4. Emergency Response Planning:

- Develop comprehensive emergency response plans for various scenarios, including accidents,

inclement weather, and other emergencies.

- Conduct regular drills and training sessions to prepare drivers and staff for emergency situations.

- Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services as needed.

5. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:

- Maintain open and effective communication channels with parents, school administrators, and

transportation team members.

- Address parent inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.

- Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth operations and resolve transportation-related issues.

6. Data Analysis and Performance Monitoring:

- Analyze transportation-related data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve

performance.

- Use data-driven insights to enhance route efficiency, on-time performance, and overall service

quality.

7. Safety Culture Promotion:

- Foster and promote a strong safety culture within the transportation team.

- Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to reinforce safety protocols.

vehicles are in excellent operational condition.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for fostering open and transparent

communication with parents, school administrators, and transportation team members.

- Prompt and professional resolution of inquiries, concerns, and complaints related to school

transportation.

6. Data Analysis and Performance Monitoring:

- Proficiency in analyzing transportation-related data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to

monitor and enhance transportation performance.

7. Customer Service Orientation:

- A commitment to providing exceptional customer service to parents, students, and school staff by

addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.

- Ability to collaborate with school administrators to align transportation services with educational

goals and priorities.

Pre-employment Screening Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a US DOT Medical Certification ,10 Panel drug and alcohol screening, and Tuberculosis (TB) Test/Screening
  • Must have a clean background : 10 year Motor Vehicle History Check, National Background Check, PA State Police Criminal Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprinting through Identogo (no prior convictions or felonies, DUI’s, or drug related arrests)

Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CDL- School Bus, Passenger Endorsem*nt
  • 5+ years Professional driving experience
  • 5 + years of Supervisory experience
  • Clean driving history with no accidents within last 7 years


Certificates/Licenses

Possession of a proper class license valid to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of appointment.
