13 Things to See, Do & Eat at Philly's Comcast Campus (2024)

Things to Do

The Universal Sphere

Located on the upper level of the lobby of the Comcast Technology Center, this free immersive experience explores the power of ideas in a 360-degree dome theater. From Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Parks and Resorts, and Comcast Labs, The Power of I is appropriate for all ages and is wheelchair accessible. Guests must make a complimentary, same-day reservation to visit. (Plan to spend about 15 minutes.)

The Comcast Experience

The Comcast Experience calls the lobby of The Comcast Center home. Featuring 10 million pixels, the 2,100-square-foot screen is one of the world’s largest 4-millimeter LED continuous video walls, providing free, year-round programming for the public with no ticket required. Residents and visitors flock to the lobby during the holidays for the building’s seasonal Holiday Spectacular show, a family tradition that has attracted more than 2 million people since 2008.

Public Art

In an effort to inspire employees and tourists alike, Comcast commissioned a number of artists to create pieces for The Comcast Technology Center. Two striking works, from internationally renowned artists Jenny Holzer and Conrad Shawcross, dominate the bilevel lobby. In addition, dozens of local artists and makers contributed murals, sculptures, furniture and more to the corporate offices throughout the building. Residents and visitors can explore the following installations.

For Philadelphia (2018) by Jenny Holzer

Spanning the ceiling of The Comcast Technology Center lobby and viewable from the street, Holzer’s scrolling digital tickers feature 17 hours of continuous content — thought-provoking writings by poets and architects as well as Philadelphia schoolchildren and authors.

Exploded Paradigm (2018) by Conrad Shawcross

Shawcross’s dramatic cast-iron and mirror-polished stainless-steel sculpture in the lobby of The Comcast Technology Center explores the tetrahedron. Reflective panels on the multilevel work create a dialogue with Jenny Holzer’s digital screens running above it.

Humanity in Motion (2008) by Jonathan Borofsky

Life-size figures walk across beams suspended in the winter garden of The Comcast Center lobby. Looking up from ground level, Borofsky’s father and son sculptures are intended to evoke the idea that every individual has a unique path to follow.

Connection (2018) by Sarah Zwerling

Part of the local artists and makers program, Zwerling’s dreamy digital photo collage of Philadelphia neighborhoods brightens the underground passageway linking The Comcast Center and The Comcast Technology Center.

In addition to dining from chefs Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Greg Vernick, the hotel also features a 10,000-square-foot spa as well as sophisticated meeting and events spaces.

Architecture & Design

Designed by architect A.M. Stern Associates, the 58-story flagship Comcast Center was the tallest building in Philadelphia when it opened in 2008. The 60-story Comcast Technology Center, from architect Lord Norman Foster and Foster + Partners, debuted in 2019.

Sustainability was a major consideration in the design of both buildings. The Comcast Center is LEED Gold certified, and The Comcast Technology Center is expected to achieve LEED Platinum certification — the highest sustainability designation.

Comcast also made a special effort to incorporate innovative design elements in The Comcast Technology Center to ensure accessibility for employees and visitors.
